The Committee on Anti-Corruption Policy held a working meeting with the European Parliament Committee on Budgetary Control (CONT)

On July 14, a working meeting was held between the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Anti-Corruption Policy and the European Parliament Committee on Budgetary Control (CONT), continuing the constructive inter-parliamentary dialogue between the two committees. The event took place in a hybrid format.

The event was dedicated to discussing the current issues of cooperation between Ukraine and the European Union in the area of preventing and combating corruption, protecting the financial interests of the EU, as well as further advancing reforms within the negotiation process on Ukraine’s accession to the EU.

Opening remarks were delivered by Andreas Schwab, Chair of the European Parliament Committee on Budgetary Control, and Anastasiia Radina, Chairwoman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Anti-Corruption Policy.

Anastasia Rodina briefed about the main achievements and priority tasks in the sector of anti-corruption policy of Ukraine. Representatives of the European institution outlined current issues of ensuring the rule of law, combating corruption, and protecting the financial interest of the EU in the context of Ukraine's EU accession negotiations.

During the event, special attention was paid to reviewing the latest events and prospects in the field of combating corruption in Ukraine, as well as to information on ongoing measures aimed at protecting the financial interests of the European Union.

Relevant presentations were delivered by Denys Hiulmahomedov, First Deputy Director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine; Nadiia Polkhovska, Head of the Organizational, Legal, Information and Analytical Support Department of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office; Olha Pishchanska, Chairwoman of the Accounting Chamber of Ukraine; and Vladyslav Marushevskyi, Deputy Chairman of the State Audit Service of Ukraine.

During the exchange of views, the participants discussed current challenges in the field of anti-corruption and mechanisms for protecting the financial interests of the European Union.

Following the meeting, the Chair of the Committee, Anastasiia Radina, emphasized the importance of continuing a constructive dialogue and deepening cooperation between the Committee on Anti-Corruption Policy and the European Parliament Committee on Budgetary Control (CONT) in order to ensure Ukraine's proper fulfillment of its commitments to the EU regarding key and urgent reforms in the field of the rule of law and anti-corruption, as well as its further integration into the European Union.
