A meeting between the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk and representatives of the 38th Separate Marine Brigade of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine took place at the Ukrainian Parliament. The meeting was also attended by MP Tamila Tasheva and Head of the Secretariat of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Viacheslav Shtuchnyi.

During the meeting, Deputy Brigade Commander Lieutenant Colonel Serhii Pedenko, Communications Officer Lieutenant Olena Solonyna, and sailor Maksym Lopakhtin presented the Secretariat of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine with the brigade’s flag.

The flag will become part of the permanent exhibition “Defending Ukraine”, located in one of the buildings of the Verkhovna Rada. The exhibition is dedicated to People’s Deputies of different convocations, their assistants-consultants, employees of the Secretariat, as well as staff of state enterprises and institutions currently serving in the Security and Defence Forces of Ukraine.

A special place in the exhibition is dedicated to a memorial stand featuring photographs of fallen defenders, as well as flags of other brigades.

“We are grateful to every defender who is defending Ukraine today. It is a great honour for us to receive the flag of the brigade that is currently carrying out missions in one of the most difficult sectors of the frontline,” said Chariman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss the future of those who have defended and continue to defend Ukraine. Head of the Secretariat of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Viacheslav Shtuchnyi spoke about the opportunities created for employment and adaptation:

“Today, 27 veterans are already working in the Secretariat, including war veterans, combat participants, and persons with war-related disabilities. Another 38 veterans are employed at enterprises and institutions under the Secretariat’s management.”

Deputy Brigade Commander Serhii Pedenko thanked the Parliament for its social initiatives and particularly highlighted the veterans’ employment programme:

“A very important initiative is the employment of Marine Corps veterans within the Secretariat of the Verkhovna Rada. Those who fought and sacrificed the most valuable things in their lives should continue working and carry this spirit and patriotism into the future of our state.”

The Secretariat of the Verkhovna Rada remains open to cooperation with veterans and invites them to join the civil service team. A new internship programme for war veterans will also be launched in the near future.
