Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Olena Kondratiuk met with Maximilian Rasch, Chargé d'Affaires of the Federal Republic of Germany in Ukraine. The parties discussed key areas of bilateral cooperation. In particular, Germany's  leadership in supporting Ukraine, the advancement of the European Union accession negotiations in the future peace negotiation.

As Olena Kondratiuk emphasised, Germany is a leader among European partners in supporting Ukraine. The Deputy Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament expressed sincere gratitude to Germany for its leadership, unwavering solidarity, and large-scale assistance.

"The total amount of support provided by Germany amounts to €55 billion in military support and €34 billion of civilian assistance, which is the highest figure among European countries," - Olena Kondratiuk stressed.

In turn, Maximilian Rasch reported that the Federal Republic of Germany budget for 2027 provides for an additional €11.8 billion in assistance to Ukraine. “Germany firmly stands in its support for Ukraine,” the diplomat stressed.

Separately, the positive decision of the Council of the European Union on providing Ukraine with €90 billion in credit support was noted, with 25% of it being covered by Germany. “This is a significant contribution to strengthening Ukraine’s resilience and defence capabilities,” the Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, Olena Kondratiuk, emphasised.

The parties also discussed Ukraine’s further steps on the path to membership in the European Union, the earliest possible opening of the first negotiation clusters, and the alignment of Ukrainian legislation with EU law.

The Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada stressed that this is one of the key priorities for the Ukrainian Parliament. “The Verkhovna Rada is ready for constructive cooperation with the Government on considering priority European integration draft laws necessary to receive a positive assessment from the European Commission in the October report,” Olena Kondratiuk noted.

“Germany’s position remains unchanged. Ukraine should join the EU as quickly as possible while continuing the necessary reforms,” said Maximilian Rasch.

Separately, the Deputy Speaker emphasised that accession to the European Union for Ukrainian citizens is not only an economic or legal integration, but above all a security guarantee.

“That is why it is important that a united Europe be a party to any future peace negotiations with the russian federation, as this concerns the security not only of Ukraine, but of all Europe,” Olena Kondratiuk stressed.
