Ukraine and France develop interparliamentary dialogue: Oleksandr Merezhko met with Frédéric Petit

On May 5 2026, the Committee Chair on Foreign Policy and Interparliamentary Cooperation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Merezhko held a meeting with Frédéric Petit, member of the French National Assembly.

The interlocutors discussed recent trends in global politics, the current state of transatlantic dialogue, as well as the security and humanitarian situation in Ukraine. They also addressed prospects for a ceasefire and a peaceful settlement, along with Ukraine’s progress on its European integration path.

Particular attention was paid to the areas of deepening bilateral cooperation between Ukraine and France, the development of interparliamentary dialogue, including the possibility of holding joint events with the relevant committee of the French National Assembly.

Chair of the Committee Oleksandr Merezhko expressed gratitude to France for its consistent and comprehensive support for Ukraine.
