On 7 April, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a law on European integration aimed at harmonising the accreditation of conformity assessment bodies and the technical regulation system with the requirements of the European Union (registration no. 12221).

The adoption of this Law is an important step towards concluding the Agreement on Conformity Assessment and Acceptance of Industrial Products (the so-called “industrial visa-free regime”) between Ukraine and the European Union, as well as further integration of Ukraine into the EU internal market.

The Law is aimed at harmonizing Ukrainian legislation in the areas of technical regulation and accreditation with EU standards. Its implementation seeks to enhance the safety of industrial products, strengthen trust in national certification bodies, and create conditions for expanding access of Ukrainian goods to the EU market.

The adoption of these legislative amendments will promote the production of Ukrainian goods in line with European safety standards, improve product quality on the domestic market, and expand opportunities for Ukrainian manufacturers to enter the European Union market.

It is also expected to create new jobs, contributing to higher incomes through easier access for Ukrainian producers to the EU market.

The Committee on Economic Development was primarily responsible for reviewing Draft Law No. 12221.
