Volodymyr Lytvyn: It is of Utter Importance for Ukraine that People realize their Right of Choice, as it prevents Revolutions
On Friday, Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, met Ahmet Bulent Merich, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to Ukraine, whose diplomatic mission in Ukraine has been recently launched.
The Parties discussed cooperation between Ukraine and Turkey as not only neighbouring countries, but also the States with common views on the development of different international processes.
A. Merich is convinced that relations between Ukraine and Turkey will extend next year, "as no serious problems exist between the countries". "We are open to any ideas and suggestions of yours", - the Ambassador stressed. He underscored that common integration into the European institutes and cooperation within their framework is of priority. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to Ukraine invited the Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to make an official visit to Ukraine next year.
The Head of the Parliament stressed the importance of good-neighbouring relations between the States. He stressed that Turkey was assuming greater authority in the world. He also deems to boost the relations. According to V.Lytvyn, extension of relations "is facilitated by the globalizing world". "I am convinced that we will look for new forms of relations for the sake of sustainable life", - he stated.
The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stated that Ukraine was concerned with extension of cooperation with Turkey, as well as in new projects, especially in the context of preparation for EURO-2012 and development of new cultural projects. He reminded that a legal base of bilateral relations comprised more than 70 documents. V.Lytvyn also promised to exert every effort to ensure timely ratification of the agreements with the Republic of Turkey.
V.Lytvyn is satisfied with the activity of inter-parliamentary organizations. He expressed his gratitude for "the support rendered by the parliamentary organizations". The Head of the Parliament also called for boosting the work of the inter-parliamentary groups of friendship.
V.Lytvyn believes that all the issues will be settled jointly for the benefit of the entire European community.
The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine promised to visit Turkey after the presidential elections. "The transitional period will then finish", - he stated. Such a period presupposes "personification of politics, domination of such politics over the Constitution and legal system". He also believes that "it is of utter importance for Ukraine that people realize their right of choice, as it prevents revolutions".
The Ambassador appreciated the democratic situation in Ukraine, stating that "well-being of the Ukrainian nation will be treated as our well-being".
