Ruslan Stefanchuk, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, welcomed Włodzimierz Czarzasty, the Marshal of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, in Kyiv. This is his first official visit to the Ukrainian capital—an important and symbolic step towards strengthening Ukrainian-Polish dialogue.
During the meeting, the parties signed a Joint Declaration on strategic partnership and agreed to establish a joint parliamentary and expert working group to support Ukraine’s integration into the EU. The document opens up new opportunities for deepening interparliamentary cooperation and accelerating Ukraine’s progress towards European Union membership.
A particular attention was paid to further support for Ukraine in countering russian aggression as well as coordinating efforts in the European and security fields. Poland has been and remains one of Ukraine’s key allies politically, militarily and humanitarianly.
Włodzimierz Czarzasty stressed that without a free Ukraine there can be no free Poland, and that Ukrainians have true friends and a reliable partner in Poland within the EU and the world.
Ruslan Stefanchuk thanked the Polish nation for its solidarity and comprehensive assistance, and also for their support on Ukraine’s path to EU membership and country restoration. The parties confirmed that, while recognising the complexity of their historical path, Ukraine and Poland today are shaping a European future together based on the principles of freedom, security and mutual trust.
Within his visit, Włodzimierz Czarzasty was informed about the consequences of the russian drone strike on a passenger train in the Kharkiv region on 27th of January. The target was a civilian transport carrying 291 passengers.
«This is yet another indication that russia is waging a war of terror against the civilian population. The world must see these crimes and respond. Accountability for them is inevitable,» emphasised the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
