First Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniienko held an official meeting with Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova Alexandru Munteanu at the Ukrainian Parliament. The event was also attended by the head of the interparliamentary relations group with the Republic of Moldova, Chairman of the Committee on National Health, Medical Care and Medical Insurance Mykhailo Radutskyi.

The First Deputy Speaker emphasised the close and deep relations between Ukraine and Moldova, stressing that the Verkhovna Rada is ready to adopt and support all necessary decisions for the development of bilateral cooperation. ‘We particularly appreciate the consistent position of the Republic of Moldova in supporting the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine, as well as the solidarity of the Moldovan people in countering russian aggression,’ he said, noting that the friendship group with the Republic of Moldova is one of the largest in Parliament, with more than 150 MPs.

Oleksandr Korniienko emphasised Moldova's active role in receiving more than 100,000 Ukrainians who were forced to leave their country due to russian aggression, especially given the russian federation's attacks on critical infrastructure facilities that provide electricity and heat supply in large cities of Ukraine.

Oleksandr Korniienko paid particular attention to the importance of humanitarian aid provided by Moldova, in particular generators and heating equipment. According to him, this allows critical infrastructure, schools and hospitals to continue operating, and improves living conditions for citizens in the affected regions.

The First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stressed that Ukraine is open to discussing various issues of bilateral cooperation with Moldova, in particular countering hybrid threats from the russian federation, improving electoral legislation and implementing European integration reforms.

"The intensification of interparliamentary dialogue will allow us to fully utilise its potential to find new areas of cooperation and better implement agreements reached at the intergovernmental and inter-state levels. We hope for the active participation of the Moldovan side in this process, as we are convinced that through joint efforts we will be able to strengthen cooperation and launch new initiatives to strengthen our relations," Oleksandr Korniienko concluded.
