The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, began his working visit to Spain. In Madrid he had a meeting with the President of the Congress of Deputies of the Kingdom of Spain, Francina Armengol.

During the meeting they discussed key issues for Ukraine including further political, defence and humanitarian support, the restoration of energy infrastructure following russian strikes, strengthening sanctions against the aggressor, and the return of Ukrainian children abducted by russia.

Ruslan Stefanchuk informed the Spanish side about the current state of Ukraine's energy system and the challenges it faces as a result of regular russian attacks on critical infrastructure.

Particular attention was paid to interparliamentary cooperation, coordination of actions in European formats and the development of direct contacts between parliaments.

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine thanked Spain for its solidarity with Ukraine and consistent support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our state, emphasising the expectation of further concrete decisions.

During meetings with leaders of parliamentary groups of the Congress of Deputies of Spain, Ruslan Stefanchuk stressed the need to return Ukrainian children who had been forcibly separated from their families by russia, as well as the cynical attempts by the aggressor to use children as bargaining chips.

Our Spanish colleagues confirmed their shared position with Ukraine on the peace process and sanctions policy. Solidarity and cooperation among democratic countries remain key.

During his visit, Ruslan Stefanchuk also met with the President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, Pere Joan Pons Sampietro.

During the conversation, they discussed further steps that the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly can and should take to achieve a just peace in Ukraine and increase pressure on russia.

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine reported on the results of his recent visit to the United States and the key signals received during meetings with representatives of the US Congress and Administration. The parties paid particular attention to sanctions policy and security guarantees for Ukraine.

Ruslan Stefanchuk stressed that peace is only possible if real pressure is exerted on the aggressor and clear international security guarantees are provided, emphasising the important role of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in this process.
