IN MEMORY OF IVAN SPODARENKO

Ivan Vasyliovych SPODARENKO, People´s Deputy of Ukraine, member of Our Ukraine-People´s Self-Defence Faction, secretary of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on Human Rights, National Minorities and International Relations, Honoured Journalist of Ukraine, Board member and secretary of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine, passed away after a long-lasting disease on 17 December 2009

 

I.V.Spodarenko was born on 23 January 1931 in the village of Stolne (Mensk district, Chernihiv region).  

 

Ivan Spodarenko became one of the founders of the national journalism, an incontestable authority among his colleagues. He worked for the newspapers in Chernihiv, Rivne, Volyn and Poltava regions. Ivan Spodarenko devoted almost 30 years of his life to "Silski Visti" newspaper. It is under his leadership that the newspaper became the mouthpiece of the truth.

 

One can hardly imagine the current political process without his bright figure. Ivan Spodarenko was elected the People´s Deputy of Ukraine of the fourth-sixth convocations.   

 

He was decorated with numerous orders and medals of the Soviet Union.

 

The independent Ukraine has also appreciated his work, conferring the "Hero of Ukraine" title with the Order of State. Ivan Spodarenko is the holder of Yaroslav the Wise Order of V Degree.

 

An outstanding personality, a talented journalist, a decent person, an ardent patriot of Ukraine has passed away.  

 

The memory about Ivan Vasyliovych Spodarenko will remain in our grateful hears forever.
