On 5 February 2026, a video conference meeting was held between the Chair and members of the Committee on Foreign Policy and Interparliamentary Cooperation and the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Lithuanian Parliament, chaired by Committee Chairs Oleksandr Merezhko and Remigijus Motuzas. The meeting was attended by Ukrainian MPs Iryna Herashchenko, Maria Ionova and Yelyzaveta Yask.

Representatives of the foreign affairs committees of the Ukrainian and Lithuanian parliaments discussed the humanitarian situation in Ukraine following the shelling of Ukraine's energy infrastructure in January this year and its impact on the functioning of critical infrastructure, the prospects for a ceasefire and the peace process, as well as the sanctions policy against the aggressor state and the punishment of those guilty of war crimes.

The interlocutors paid particular attention to the issues of Ukraine's European and Euro-Atlantic integration, the importance of strengthening economic and military-technical assistance to Ukraine from its partners, in particular for the protection of our state's airspace.

Committee Chairman Oleksandr Merezhko expressed his gratitude to his Lithuanian colleagues for their constant comprehensive support and stressed that the simplest and most important guarantee of Ukraine's security is our country's membership in NATO.
