The visit of the NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte to Kyiv is an evidence of solidarity between NATO and European countries with Ukraine during these challenging times, when russia continues attacking our country and keeps committing horrible crimes against humanity, war crimes.

This was stated by Oleksandr Merezhko, the Member of Parliament, Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Policy and Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation.

«Despite russian attacks the NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte arrived in Kyiv and made a statement at the opening of the 15th session of Verkhovna Rada. He addressed parliamentarians and the Ukrainian nation with a very important message. Particularly, he emphasised that the peace in Ukraine means the peace in Europe, and safety of Ukraine is safety of all Europe and all NATO countries. Rutte also confirmed irreversibility of the Ukrainian path to membership in the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation,» mentioned the politician.

According to his words, Rutte stressed the importance of Ukraine getting reliable security guarantees, not some pseudoguarantees that previously were implemented in the Budapest Memorandum or the Minsk Agreements.
