Ukraine is telling its partners the truth about the war crimes committed by the russians, who are trying to destroy our energy infrastructure and commit genocide against Ukrainians in the midst of freezing temperatures. In the current circumstances, we urgently need not only equipment for the energy sector, but also air defence systems and various missiles to protect us from new attacks. All these munitions are available in Europe.

This was stated by Yehor Cherniev, Member of Parliament, Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security, Defence and Intelligence, member of the Servant of the People faction, and Head of the Permanent Delegation of Ukraine to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.

«Right now, due to russian attacks, the situation is most difficult in Kyiv, Odesa, Dnipro, and Zaporizhzhia. We urge our partners at the state, union, and even city levels to find generators, transformers, other equipment, and spare parts to provide us with assistance as quickly as possible. Our second request is for air defence systems and missiles for them. We depend on PAC-3 and Patriot missiles, which can shoot down ballistic, aeroballistic and hypersonic missiles. At the same time, we also lack conventional missiles that can shoot down cruise missiles. Even Shahed drones can be destroyed with smaller missiles, including those for helicopters. These munitions are available in Europe,» the politician noted.

He added that negotiations with partners are ongoing, and recently NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte appealed to Members of the European Parliament to exert greater influence on their governments to speed up the transfer of missiles to Ukraine for its air defence systems.

The MP also said that the next Ramstein meeting would be mainly devoted to discussing plans to finance the PURL programme, through which weapons are purchased from the United States.

«Our priorities are, first, to finance the PURL programme so that we receive both missiles and additional air defence systems. Second, to finance our defence industry so that we have enough drones and enough domestically produced missiles for long-range strikes. A separate issue is aircraft, aircraft support and aircraft armament, as well as one of the elements of air defence,» the parliamentarian stressed.

According to him, there is currently no reason to believe that russia is ready to make concessions or end the war. Therefore, it is important for Ukraine to consolidate with Europe and create a unified security architecture.
