The Chair of the Committee on Ukraine's Integration into the EU, Ivanna Klympush-Tsyntsadze, together with colleagues from the United4Ukraine parliamentary network, held a series of meetings aimed at strengthening support for Ukraine in Chicago. "During the few days we worked with our colleagues in Chicago, the temperature in the city was -21°C. This really helped to clearly explain at every meeting and to every audience what Ukrainians are going through when, in such cold weather, the enemy deprives us of light, heat and water," said the Chair of the Committee.

According to her, russia's war and genocidal attacks against the backdrop of what is called the "negotiation process" are not on the front pages of the American media. Therefore, together with colleagues from United4Ukraine, they used the opportunity to draw attention to the realities of the war in Ukraine during all public discussions and meetings: at the Chicago Global Affairs Council and the University of Chicago; with representatives of the Ukrainian, Lithuanian, and Polish communities; with the media and representatives of business communities.

We discussed bilateral security guarantees with Senator Dick Durbin, co-founder and co-chair of the Ukraine Caucus in the US Senate. As it turned out, despite loud promises that these guarantees are allegedly already in place, there are unfortunately no discussions on this issue in the Senate (which would have to ratify any serious agreement).

“At all meetings, together with colleagues from the U4U network, we explained why it is in the interests of the United States to achieve a strategic defeat of russia and, based on this, the critical need to increase US pressure on russia and increase military aid to Ukraine. We talked about how European countries have increased their support for Ukraine and answered many questions about the internal situation in Ukraine, from mobilisation to the reform agenda and the feasibility of its implementation," said Ivanna Klympush-Tsyntsadze.

The participants of the advocacy visit appealed to the mayor of Chicago, the sister city of the Ukrainian capital, for assistance for Kyiv in this extremely difficult situation. "I know that our Consulate General will continue to work out the details with the city hall staff. I am grateful to my friends, the parliamentarians from European countries, for their joint efforts to ensure Ukraine's success and victory," concluded the chair of the Committee on Ukraine's Integration into the EU.
