The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defence and Intelligence, Oleksandr Zavitnevych, held an official meeting with the Chairman of the Commission on National Defence and Armed Forces of the French National Assembly, Jean-Michel Jacques. Committee member Fedir Venislavskyi also took part in the meeting.
The parties discussed the use of ground-based robotic systems (GRS) for evacuation and logistics. Special attention was paid to the evolution of unmanned aerial vehicles.
"The defence industry and financing: the competition is fierce. As a Committee, we aim to accelerate the path of technology from design to combat unit as much as possible. The commander on the battlefield must have a real choice of means to act effectively and save the lives of personnel," emphasised Oleksandr Zavitnevych.
According to the Committee Chairman, Ukraine is positioned as an R&D hub for Europe. Key opportunities for cooperation include testing the latest models in real combat conditions, receiving instant feedback from Ukrainian operators, and jointly improving technologies that will become the basis for the security of all of Europe after Ukraine's victory.
Separately, Oleksandr Zavitnevych discussed with his French colleagues the protection of Ukrainian airspace from enemy aircraft, as well as the strategic prospect of acquiring Rafale aircraft. The topics of counter-battery warfare in difficult weather conditions and French experience in the veteran support system were also raised.
"France is one of our key allies. There is a productive and ongoing dialogue between the members of the Committee and our French colleagues aimed at strengthening Ukraine's capabilities in countering russian aggression and forcing the russian federation to accept a just peace," said Oleksandr Zavitnevych.
He thanked France for participating in the "coalition of the willing" and for its active efforts to create a reliable security shield for Ukraine. "We thank Jean-Michel Jacques for his deep understanding of Ukraine's needs and his readiness to take decisive steps. Together, we are making European security stronger," said the Committee Chairman, stressing that the common goal of Ukraine and France remains unchanged — victory over the aggressor and the establishment of lasting peace.
