The Chair of the Committee on Ukraine's Integration into the EU, Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze, met with German Ambassador to Ukraine Heiko Thoms. During the meeting, they discussed Germany's support for Ukraine in the areas of defence, reconstruction and decentralisation. They also discussed reforms, the implementation of which is a key condition for Ukraine's accession to the EU, and the need to strengthen institutional capacity.

Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze stressed that military assistance from partners, especially

Germany is critically important for Ukraine. She thanked Germany for its long-standing and strong support. At the same time, she noted that today this support is more important than ever, because the situation is difficult. The Chair of the Committee noted that it is important for Ukraine to strategically plan how to use the assistance of partners in the most effective way.

The Chair of the Committee also emphasised that Ukrainian society, international partners and people within the Ukrainian authorities, regardless of party affiliation, who sincerely care about reforms, have always been the driving force behind change. It is thanks to this combination of efforts that Ukraine owes its resilience and progress.

During the meeting, Ukraine's European integration was also discussed. Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze emphasised the importance for Ukraine to realistically assess its readiness and progress on the path to the EU so as not to create unrealistic expectations that could undermine public confidence. The Chair of the Committee announced that at the end of November, the Committee on Ukraine's Integration into the EU would hold a large joint meeting with the executive branch to discuss the European Commission's report on Ukraine's progress within the framework of the EU Enlargement Package 2025. «It is important for us to find a balance in which Ukraine can mobilise and implement the reforms it needs to achieve on its path to EU membership. But we cannot do this without our European partners and their support,» Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze stressed. She insisted that Ukraine should focus on strengthening institutional capacity, which is one of the key factors for successful European integration. At the same time, she stressed that the European Union must carry out internal reforms so that Ukraine and other states seeking to become EU members do not become hostages to unresolved internal problems in the European Union.

During the meeting, special attention was paid to decentralisation. Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze stressed that it was the decentralisation reform that contributed to the resilience of Ukrainian communities during the full-scale invasion by the russian federation. However, today there are risks of rolling back some of its achievements. The Chair of the Committee called on Germany to maintain its leadership in supporting this area of reform.
