The sixth and final online meeting was held on the topic: «Extended producer responsibility. Extended producer responsibility organisations. Deposit-return system – discussion of the concept of choice for Ukraine», with the participation of 50 representatives of local government, business and civil society organisations.
The meeting was organised by the Committee on Environmental Policy and Natural Resources in cooperation with the NGO Pragma as part of the Unity for the Community project, implemented by ISAR Unity with the financial support of the European Union.
The participants discussed several topics, including the concept of legislative regulation of the basic principles of extended producer responsibility; the legal status of EPR; regulation and specifics of EPR at the level of the draft law on packaging and packaging waste; regulation of the specifics and features of EPR at the level of the aforementioned draft law; approaches to regulating the deposit-return system, with an emphasis on the mandatory deposit system in the context of its relationship with extended producer responsibility.
