Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk met with a parliamentary delegation of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland led by Alex Sobel, Chairman of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Ukraine, Member of the House of Commons. The Head of the Ukrainian Parliament thanked his colleagues for their significant military, political and sanctions support and discussed further steps in bilateral cooperation.
Ruslan Stefanchuk reminded that relations between Ukraine and the UK are "closer than ever", and the 100-year partnership agreement signed this year laid the foundation for long-term joint projects.
A separate topic was the formula for a just and lasting peace. "It is possible only on the basis of the UN Charter and respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine," the Chairman of the Parliament stressed.
The parties also paid attention to the issue of returning Ukrainian children illegally deported by russia from the occupied territories. "Their return is our common humanitarian priority and a demand for justice," stressed Ruslan Stefanchuk.
The Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament noted the contribution of his British colleagues to the sanctions pressure, in particular on the "shadow fleet", as well as for the initiative to freeze the assets of the aggressor state in order to use them for the restoration of Ukraine.
Stefanchuk presented Alex Sobel with the Order of Merit for his personal contribution to supporting Ukraine. "The UK remains by Ukraine's side at its most important moments. Together we defend freedom," the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada concluded.
