The leadership of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, members of parliament, the Head of the Ukrainian Parliament's Secretariat and its employees, on the occasion of the Day of Remembrance of the defenders of Ukraine who died in the struggle for independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the state, took part in a ceremony of laying flowers at the memorial plaque on the Parliament building, installed in honour of the People's Deputies of Ukraine and employees of the Office who died in the conditions of large-scale armed aggression by the russian federation.
Addressing those present, Ruslan Stefanchuk, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, emphasised: "On 29 August, we honour the defenders who died in the struggle for Ukraine's independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity. These are those who have been defending the country in a full-scale war since 2022 and those who have been defending the country from the aggressor since 2014."
He stressed that among the fallen soldiers are members of parliament and employees of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
"Memory, honour and dignity. Their feat, their sacrifice and their contribution to preserving Ukraine's independence are eternal. We bow our heads to all the heroes who paid the highest price for the future of the Ukrainian state. Their memory will live on in the hearts of generations, and their struggle will forever remain an example of courage and dedication," said Ruslan Stefanchuk.
First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniienko emphasised that the memory of the fallen defenders lives on every day.
"Every day at 9:00 a.m., the entire country bows its head and stands in silence. Every day, we give thanks for their deeds. We will not forgive the criminals, murderers, and guilty parties — those who came to foreign lands with weapons in their hands. We will not forgive them for taking the lives of Ukraine's best sons and daughters. They will be held accountable. And they will all burn in hell. Eternal honour to the fallen heroes!" he emphasised.
