Mykola Tomenko: The Ministers shall not be dismissed for the Failure to support a certain Candidate for Presidency

Mykola Tomenko, Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, commented upon the President´s initiative to dismiss Yuriy Lutsenko, Minister of Internal Affairs. He stated: "I repeatedly made the point that such decisions of Viktor Yushchenko confirm that he considers resolutions and recommendations of the shadow government of Viktor Yanukovych to be more important than those of the legitimate government of Yulia Tymoshenko. It is widely known that the Party of Regions has long ago resolved to demand the dismissal of Yuriy Lutsenko".

According to Mykola Tomenko, Viktor Yushchenko proved that his behaviour was characteristic of a candidate for presidency, rather than a President.

"If the Parliament dismisses all the high-ranking officials who refuse to become election agents of V.Yushchenko or V.Yanukovych, the public authority system in Ukraine will be abolished for the period of the presidential election campaign", - the Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stated.

The Vice-Chairman also believes that notwithstanding the common stand of Viktor Yushchenko and Viktor Yanukovych concerning dismissal of Yuriy Lutsenko, the Parliament lacks the votes to adopt such a resolution.
