Nothing divides Ukraine and Serbia, which is the most powerful incentive for the development of cooperation between the countries. Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, made the above-mentioned statement, meeting Dušan Lazic, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Serbia to Ukraine.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary stated: "There are no open, unsettled matters between our countries, but a "green corridor" for the development of multifaceted bilateral cooperation". He underscored that "Ukraine is an important foreign political partner for Serbia". Therefore, sitting of the inter-governmental commission on economic matters scheduled for December in Kyiv will be a topical event for both States. D. Lazic reminded that such a meeting had not been held for the last seven years.
The Parties deems necessary to exchange experience and render mutual support in the international organizations.
The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine expects that the election campaign in Ukraine "will be held properly", the results of elections "giving second wind to the country, as permanent conflicts hamper improvement of domestic situation and establishment of international cooperation". He stated that the recent Ukraine-EU summit in Kyiv confirmed that Europe needs Ukraine. "We aim for constructive relations", - V.Lytvyn stressed.
V.Lytvyn called for developing inter-parliamentary relations at the level of groups of friendship and high-ranking officials of the Parliaments. He invited the Head of the National Assembly of Serbia to make a working visit to Ukraine.
