Ahead of Medical Workers’ Day, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk congratulated Ukrainian healthcare professionals and presented awards to those who save lives every day — both civilian and military.
The event, which took place at Kyiv City Hospital No. 4, honoured the best doctors from all over Ukraine, both in civilian and military medicine. They received certificates of honour from the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and gratitude from the Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament.
«I come from a family of doctors. I remember my parents' shifts, night calls, and excitement. This is more than a profession. It is a service. I am grateful to each and every one of them for their valiant work. A person and his or her life are the highest value for Ukraine. And that is why doctors are also on the front line,» Ruslan Stefanchuk said.
Oleksandr Korniienko, First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, thanked the doctors for their mission: «Your role and mission is important. Thank you for saving lives, creating miracles, and restoring faith and hope. We will continue to support legislative initiatives aimed at creating better conditions for your work».
In his turn, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Health, Medical Assistance and Medical Insurance Mykhailo Radutskyi wished that the war would end with our victory as soon as possible. «I wish that next year we would not just mark but celebrate the Day of Medical Worker in a peaceful, free and strong Ukraine,» he said.
The participants of the event also paid tribute to the fallen doctors at the memorial sign in honour of those who gave their lives saving patients during the COVID-19 pandemic and in the war.
