"The orange authorities represented by the President and the Prime Minister have understood that they have no chances to win the upcoming elections. It united their efforts aimed at the creation of conditions to prolong one´s authorities as the President of Ukraine and to restore the hopes for victory for another one", - Oleksandr Lavrynovych, First Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, stated in the interview to ICTV Channel, commenting upon the initiation of the Law of Ukraine on the Presidential Elections by the parliamentary majority.
Oleksandr Lavrynovych believes that the steps taken are illogical, as "little time has passed since the BYuT Faction representatives substantiated the effective version of the Law on the Presidential Elections both in Venice, and at the Constitutional Court, jointly submitting the Bill, voting for it, overriding the veto and declaring that the said provisions have been drafted to secure transparent elections".
"However, fair competition is no longer needed, as these provisions lend no chance for victory", - the politician stated, adding: "Thus, they are willing to change the rules during the campaign, complicating the work of people who conduct the elections and count voices. Finally, they cast doubt on the very subjects of elections, choosing between the citizens of Ukraine or the highly dignified judges".
The politician also stated: "Only a person who has never visited Ukraine can believe in the competent, independently and unbiased judicial authorities in Ukraine that adopt all the resolutions solely in compliance with the legislation".
