Double Citizenship Problem is to be solved beginning with the Implementation of the Tough Sanctions against State Officials having One more Citizenship besides Ukrainian One.
It was declared by V, Lytvyn , giving answers to the journalists´ questions regarding the problem of double citizenship, which is urgent for the frontier regions of Chernivtsi, on Tuesday after the meeting with Kelmentsi town residents.
Double citizenship contradicts with the effective legislation system and this phenomenon is to be ceased. But first of all, it is necessary to take measures regarding the Ukrainian citizens increase welfare. "Residents of transfrontier regions are supposed to live not worse then abroad, hence they would nit have any intention to look for the double citizenship", - he briefed.
It is not less important to solve the visa-free regime problem for the Ukrainian residents as "many people are intent to receive foreign passport for the free traveling abroad."
"I have already declared that if this decision is not made as soon as possible, or there is no definite terms of the relevant treaties we will return to the thorough analysis of the readmission treaty", - V. Lytvyn proclaimed adding that "Ukraine is not supposed to accept obligations in unilateral way if it does not receive any compensation."
He declared that first of all it is necessary to adopt tough decision regarding the state officials, having right of dual citizenship. "There should be order", - V. Lytvyn emphasized adding that Oleh Zarubinsky, the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Human Rights, National Minorities and International Relations had elaborated a relevant Bill.
As it was informed previously, V. Lytvyn is staying with the working visits in Chernivtsi, Ivano-Frankivsk and Ternopil regions.
