Chairperson of the Committee on Ukraine’s Integration into the EU, Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze, took part in the meeting of the Chairs of the EU Affairs Committees of the national parliaments of EU member states and candidate countries (COSAC), held in the capital of Denmark – Copenhagen.

During the meeting, Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze extended an invitation to the COSAC Chairs to visit Ukraine. She recalled that, in September 2022, at the invitation of the Committee, a COSAC delegation had already held a meeting in Kyiv — the first ever beyond the borders of the European Union.

The Danish Presidency of the Council of the EU expressed a positive signal regarding the organisation of a new visit to Kyiv within the next six months, during Denmark's term at the helm of the EU Council.

As part of the event, Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze also held a number of important bilateral meetings, including with Vice-President of the European Parliament Oskar Pons, Chair of the Bundestag Foreign Affairs Committee Anton Hofreiter, Chair of the Grand Committee on EU Affairs of the Finnish Parliament Saara-Sofia Sirén, Chair of the European Affairs Committee of the Danish Parliament Birgitte Klintskov Jerkel, and Chair of the Foreign Policy Committee of the Folketing Christian Bach.

The central focus of all the meetings was the mobilisation of additional security assistance for Ukraine, the need to maintain stable and predictable military support, and the strengthening of the sanctions regime against the russian federation. Discussions also emphasised the importance of building a unified EU position on further increasing support for Ukraine. Particular attention was paid to the issue of lifting Hungary’s veto on opening accession negotiations with Ukraine under the first cluster, «Fundamentals.»

European parliamentarians also expressed interest in Ukraine’s internal situation — developments on the frontline, the course of reforms, and political dynamics. The Chair of the Committee on Ukraine’s Integration into the EU called on her colleagues to continue working to ensure that the EU’s unity in supporting Ukraine — both in terms of security and politics — remains steadfast.
