The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, delivered a speech at the international conference "The Constitution in Times of War and Post-War Recovery: Current Challenges and Legal Solutions," dedicated to the 29th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of Ukraine.
According to the Chairman, the event serves as an important platform for discussing the preservation of fundamental constitutional principles during the full-scale war and for exploring ways to ensure their relevance in the post-war recovery of the country.
The Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament emphasized that the Fundamental Law remains the cornerstone of state stability, even in the most difficult times.
«The Constitution guarantees citizens’ rights and serves as a foundation for modernization and development after victory. For the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, it is not only a symbol of statehood, but also a daily responsibility before society,» Ruslan Stefanchuk noted.
He thanked international partners for their consistent support, which has remained critically important for Ukraine for over three and a half years. In this context, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada emphasized Europe's political solidarity and welcomed the recent decision by the Council of Europe to establish a Special Tribunal for the crime of aggression against Ukraine.
Ruslan Stefanchuk also called on European partners to remain steadfast in supporting Ukraine’s European integration course and to prevent any attempts to block it. He emphasized that Ukraine is diligently fulfilling all requirements on its path to EU membership and has the right to expect solidarity in return.
«Today, Ukraine is fighting for the values enshrined in its Constitution — the values of the free world. I thank you for appreciating this. But I must remind you: the war is not over yet. Ukraine still needs your support,» he emphasised.
