Volodymyr Lytvyn, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, believes that Amendments to the Legislation on the Presidential Elections based on the Constitutional Court Resolution will prevent Prolongation of the Election Process
"In order to prevent the election process prolongation it is necessary to introduce minimal amendments to the Law of elections of the President of Ukraine basing on the Constitutional Court judgment. It would also be great if the recommendations of the Vienna Committee were also taken into the consideration as it would testify our country being civilized", - V. Lytvyn emphasized during the press-conference in Lviv on Thursday.
V. Lytvyn stressed that the Law on Amendments to certain legislative acts regarding the election of the President of Ukraine "is elaborated basing on the agreements of two or more factions that denied propositions of other political powers."
According to the Head of the Parliament, he used to warn on the possibility of amendments to the election law introduction during the presidential campaign.
According to the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the effective Law on elections of the President of Ukraine is being acted except the clause recognized by the Constitutional Court as such that contradict with the Principal Law. V. Lytvyn indicated "that in order to provide the legal purity in the election process, it would be necessary to at least take into the consideration the Constitutional Court judgement and adopt necessary amendments to the Law of the President of Ukraine." "It is strange for me why such an approach had not being upheld. For the scrutiny was represented exactly the presidential bill on amendments to the Law on election of the President of Ukraine", - V. Lytvyn mentioned.
Speaking on the proposition of the President of Ukraine to consolidate and return for the scrutiny the Law on election of the President of Ukraine, V. Lytvyn expressed the thought that the Verkhovna Rada might return to its scrutiny after the elaboration, due to the results of the consultations, new bill.
"After the elections of the elections of the President of Ukraine, it is necessary to elaborate and adopt the Elective Code that would define the game rules regarding the election of the President of Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and local self-governing bodies in which majority principle would prevail", - the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine summed adding that the cause of the "country fever" is this unsolved problem.
As it was informed previously, V.Lytvyn on Thursday-Friday stays with the working visits in Lviv and Rivne regions.
He met the residents of Lviv and Novoyavorivsk cities. In the evening, the Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine took part in the satellite debate in the "Priamym Tekstom" program (live at UT-Zakhid Channel).
On 4 December, the Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine will stay in Rivne region. He will attend the grand opening of gas pipeline in Sosnove township, meet the residents of Berezne and Kostopil towns and speak with the personnel of "Rivneazot" OJSC.
In the city of Rivne, V.Lytvyn will attend the celebration of the Local Self-Government Day.
The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine will hold press conferences for mass media and give interviews to the local TV channels.
