Oleksandr Lavrynovych, First Vice-Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, believes that the initiators of the presidential veto imposed on the Law on UAH 1 billion allocation for fighting influenza epidemic have no intention to fight with influenza, but try to divert public attention from the enormous abuse of power and funds.
"Judging from the obvious facts, I see that there is no willingness to direct these funds for the epidemic fighting", - O. Lavrynovych declared. The politician informed: "There is an intention to divert the attention of the society from the enormous misuse of funds that had been allotted, and to use the influenza epidemic topic in mass media for the political purposes."
The First Vice-Chairman is convinced that the country has overcome the political epidemic, but not the influenza one. According to O. Lavrynovych, "pharmaceutical companies cooperating with the WHO were extremely lucky due to the fact that except the opportunity to earn money, they obtained a unique possibility to participate in the Prime Minister´s election campaign."
As far as the Party of Regions voting for the veto overriding was concerned, the First Vice-Chairman emphasized: "I am not sure that there is a need to allot UAH 1 billion for the campaign that I have already mentioned."
