The First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniienko delivered a welcoming speech at the opening of the exhibition "Ukraine's Path to the EU in Illustrations, Posters, Artworks" at the Museum of Kyiv History.

The exhibition was organized at the initiative of the Office of the Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine, with the support of the EU Association4U project, and will run until March 2.

Famous Ukrainian artists, illustrators, and representatives of the creative industry presented works that convey key moments of Ukraine's important path to membership in the European Union. Each work — a painting, poster or art object — reflects the aspirations, challenges and achievements on the path of our country's return to the European community.

"Its idea is to remind us of the highlights of our European integration path over the past 10 years. Indeed, 11 years ago, on these days in the center of Kyiv, a struggle for the rights of citizens and the European future of Ukraine was taking place. Ukrainians were dreaming and doing everything to make our country develop and become stronger.  The recent events demonstrate that we can be a responsible member of the European family and take leadership at certain points," the First Vice Speaker emphasized.

According to Oleksandr Korniienko, the heroic Ukrainian people have won their right to determine their own future. Now the state faces the task of fully realizing this choice. He emphasized that Ukraine has to go through the entire negotiation procedure and fulfill all the necessary conditions for joining the EU. This is a difficult but necessary step on the way to full membership. "It is the political responsibility of the Ukrainian authorities to make every effort to ensure that the country becomes a part of the European community as soon as possible," summarized the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
