On Monday, Mykola Tomenko, Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, took floor at the sitting of the Conciliative Council. He commented upon the proposal of President Viktor Yushchenko to listen to the report of the Prime Minister concerning situation in the Armed Forces. Thus, Mykola Tomenko stated: "The most important present-day objective of the Armed Forces is the appointment of the Minister of Defence, as the army has been devoid of the Minister for five months, whereas the President fails to propose a candidate for the vacant office for inexplicable reasons".
"Secondly, it is necessary to analyze the use of funds for 2009, as the mass media keep talking about the misuse of funds allocated with good intentions", - M.Tomenko stated.
It is only after these two steps are taken that the issue concerning the future of the Armed Forces shall be scrutinized with the participation of the Government and the President who is Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces.
