Riabeka, Chairman of the Sub-Committee on Control over the Observance of Human
Rights and Cooperation with the Public and Other Organizations, stressed that
"substantial results had been achieved owing to the consolidated and
systematic work of the Committee jointly with the Ministry of Justice, law-enforcement
bodies and international experts".
O. Riabeka stated that the Committee was currently implementing a number of measures related to the holding of information campaign to enhance public legal competence in the field of fighting corruption.
The People´s Deputy deems necessary to enhance national anti-corruption legislation. A number of Bills have been drafted on the said topic.
The participants of the event deem necessary to coordinate efforts upon the further drafting of the Bills on corruption fighting, as "they are of fragmentary nature". It is also necessary to elaborate a general national anti-corruption strategy to involve the public representatives.
The
participants of the meeting focused their attention on the Bills aimed at further
struggle with corruption.
The People´s Deputies deem necessary to adopt the Bill "On the Professional Ethics in Public Service and Prevention of the Conflict of Interests" (Reg. No.4420-1) to develop a system of legal measures to eliminate the causes and conditions facilitating corruptive actions and crimes in public service.
Ukraine shall set up an effective institutional basis to prevent, detect, cease and investigate corruptive crimes. A relevant Bill "On the National Anti-Corruption Investigation Bureau of Ukraine" (Reg. No. 5031) has been drafted. It defines the legal principles of organization and activity of the National Anti-Corruption Investigation Bureau of Ukraine, a specialized law-enforcement body in charge of fighting corruption in Ukraine.
