The Laws "On Nuclear Energy Use and Radiation Safety" and "On Physical Protection of Nuclear Facilities, Nuclear Materials, Nuclear Waste, and other Sources of Ionizing Radiation" are amended in order to implement the Amendment to the Convention on Physical Protection of Nuclear Material.
The Law defines the subjects of the State physical protection system, and their duties.
Pursuant to the Law, a specially authorized central executive body in charge of State regulation of the physical protection of nuclear materials is independent of the public authorities and other subjects. The introduction of such amendments should enhance international standard of non-proliferation of nuclear weapons, and liability for activity in the field of nuclear energy use.
