Oleksandr Lavrynovych, First Vice-Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, met Andrian Karatnytsky, Expert of US Atlantic Council, and Co-director of "Ukraine-West Dialogue" program.
The necessity of amendments to the Fundamental Law of Ukraine as one of the obvious ways of consolidating Ukrainian society was the main topic of the discussion.
O. Lavrynovych mentioned that Party of Regions used to bring forward the Bill on Amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine. According to him, these amendments were supposed to facilitate formation of the regulations of the Law, introducing an effective mechanism of public management.
O. Lavrynovych dwelled on the certain principles of the Bill. The politician declared that the Party of Regions suggested popular election of all the judges, provision of self-government, elimination of dual executive power and elections of the People´s Deputies by the open registers.
As far as Ukrainian domestic political and socio-economic situation during the presidential campaign was concerned, O. Lavrynovych stated that the present campaign would be complicated, and expressed his hopes that a stable parliamentary coalition would be formed next year.
