Mykola Tomenko: The Institute of Deposit facilitates Organization of Election Campaign
Giving comments regarding the presidential campaign course, Mykola Tomenko, the Vice-Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stressed that the institute of deposit facilitates organization of election campaign.
According to M. Tomenko, first of all it is obvious that the quantity of the candidates on the office of the president was reduced. He declared that, as it was forecasted, if the deposit had been minimal (500 thousand) there would have been not less then 30 candidates. Now is envisaged that there would be not more then 20 of them.
"Secondly, the state budget received income more then UAH 40 million", - M. Tomenko informed.
At the same time, the Vice-Chairman deems the fact interesting that the Bill introduced by Viktor Yushchenko and adopted in the first reading "On Amendments to certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine regarding the Election of the President of Ukraine" envisages the returning of the deposit to the candidates that received more then 7 percent. He announced that the President´s team "entertained" Deputies by this proposition. "It is obvious and it is said by the majority of experts that Viktor Yushchenko maximum is going to occupy the third position.", - he emphasized.
Also, M. Tomenko declared that he would convince next presidential election campaign to return to his proposition to define the deposit at the rate not less then 10 million.
