Within the Scope of the Working Visit to Zaporizhzhia Region, Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, observed the Water Area of Berdiansk Trade Sea Port and met its Personnel
V.Lytvyn stated that he discussed future
development of Ukraine as a sea state with the port director. Thus, they stated
that the country "shall not renounce its stand as the country of cargo
reshipment". The Head of the Parliament deems necessary to adopt the Law on
sea ports in the nearest time and implement it. V.Lytvyn reminded that the
Parliament adopted the Bill at the First Reading. It was drafted for the second
reading, but the profile parliamentary Committee withdrew the Bill for further
drafting after the Prime Minister of Ukraine met the directors of sea ports in
Odesa.
V.Lytvyn promised that he would recommend the profile Committee to facilitate scrutiny of the Bill.
The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine deems necessary to improve relations between the State and the private business in this field. He stated: "Having such a strategic asset as sea ports, the State will facilitate development of core business after the Law comes into force". V.Lytvyn also believes that sea ports shall contribute to the development of cities where they are located, although the effective legislative base does not regulate it.
The Head of the Parliament concluded that
implementation of the Law would facilitate socio-economic development of
Ukraine.
As far as the status of Berdiansk as a resort city is concerned, V.Lytvyn shares this opinion and will uphold the initiative, if it is submitted.
On Tuesday, V.Lytvyn will also observe production of "Azmol" OJSC and meet the employees of the plant.
