Position of Volodymyr Lytvyn, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine regarding the Law on Increase of the Minimal Social Standards remains immutable; the Law is to be implemented.

 

It was announced by the Leader of the Parliament during the press-conference in Kremechuk on Thursday, giving answers to the journalists´ questions regarding the possible appeal of the Government against this Law in the Constitutional Court of Ukraine in case it is signed by the President of Ukraine.

 

"My position regarding this Bill is immutable, it must be signed and we adopted it correctly", - V. Lytvyn declared. He reminded though, that today "all those who is totally against this document, voted together with the Party of Regions the Bill on increase of Minimal Wages and Minimal Living Wages to even bigger rates." "One should stop playing on human moods", - he has emphasized.

 

V. Lytvyn expressed hope that the President would keep his word and would sign the Bill. "Otherwise I can predict that in case the Bill is not signed, the date of its coming into force might be changed and the document would be again voted in revision", - he informed, supposing that there would be enough votes in the Parliament to overcome the President´s veto.

 

The Head of the Parliament announced that today everybody is aware of the necessity to increase the state social standards. "But rates, defined by law, are considerably lesser then that officially determined by the Ministry on Social Policy and Labour", - V. Lytvyn mentioned.

 

According to the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, if the minimal social standards would be "frozen", the state would be obliged to use the moratorium on the tariff increase regarding housing and public utility services and regulate the prices on main consuming goods. V. Lytvyn declared that in Poltava region 14% of population receive salary lower then the minimal living wages rate.

 

As it was announced previously, V. Lytvyn on Thursday would be staying with the working visit in Poltava region.
