Ukraine is supposed to pay an important role in new architecture of European safety, besides it has potential to do it, Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, is convinced.
It was declared by the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada on Tuesday, during the meeting with Miguel Angel Moratinos, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Kingdom of Spain.
V. Lytvyn stressed that Budapest Memorandum 1994 regarding the guarantees of Ukraine safety should receive "qualitatively new dimension and become part of new European safety architecture."
Speaking on integration aims of Ukraine, the Leader of the Parliament named "big home assignment" implementation of the European standards inside the country. V. Lytvyn also stressed the importance of "bringing to the logical completion" negotiations regarding the signing of the Agreement on Association with European Union and zone of the free trade as well as setting "normal, effective and stable relations with Russia." "It is necessary to determine the directions according to which Ukrainian politicians are supposed to act irrespective of the person who would present the country after the President´s elections", - the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine declared.
During the meeting, the Parties discussed the issues on the further development of bilateral cooperation, stressing the importance of its parliamentary constituent.
Ukraine, according to V. Lytvyn is interested in the strengthening of the bilateral dialogue, besides, taking into the consideration future chairmanship of Spain in EU.
In his turn, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Kingdom of Spain declared that "Ukraine and Spain possess common aims regarding the provision of safety in Europe. "Our relations in political and trade-economic spheres should be strengthened and transferred onto the highest level, - he declared. We have dense program of bilateral cooperation."
The future development of bilateral cooperation in the sphere of culture and tourism the Parties deem perspective. In particular, V. Lytvyn considers the Spain experience in tourist sphere very useful.
Miguel Angel Moratinos emphasized that Spain supports European integration aims of Ukraine and declared that both countries should take part in the formation of new European safety architecture.
