The leadership of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine took part in the solemn events dedicated to the Day of Ukrainian Statehood and the Day of Christianisation of Kyivan Rus - Ukraine with the participation of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi

The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk, First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniienko, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Olena Kondratiuk, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal, leaders of Ukrainian churches, religious organisations, chaplains, leadership of the Security and Defence Forces, foreign diplomats took part in a prayer event on the occasion of the Day of Ukrainian Statehood and the Day of Baptism of Kyivan Rus - Ukraine.
The prayer was held on the square in front of the Assumption Cathedral on the territory of the Kyiv Cave Monastery in Kyiv. The holy fathers prayed for victory and a just peace for Ukraine, as well as for protection and blessings for the Ukrainian people and our soldiers.
At the St Sophia of Kyiv National Reserve, the leadership of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine took part in the presentation of state awards by the President of Ukraine to our defenders, rescuers, power engineers, cultural figures, doctors and educators on the occasion of the Day of Ukrainian Statehood and the Day of the Christianisation of Kyivan Rus - Ukraine.
"On the Day of Ukrainian Statehood, we thank each and every person who defends Ukraine on the battlefield, who works for our country, who believes in our country and our Victory!" said Ruslan Stefanchuk, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
Oleksandr Korniienko, the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, emphasised the unity of the Ukrainian people: "Our people are an example of unity, faith and courage. The light in the souls of Ukrainians will overcome any darkness!"
In her turn, Vice Speaker Olena Kondratiuk stressed that Ukrainian statehood is a millennial achievement. "The struggle of generations has laid down our eternal values: freedom, liberty, dignity, justice, democracy, independence!" she said.
