First of all, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stressed that the historicity of the 28th anniversary of the Constitution of Ukraine lies in the fact that this day is celebrated in a very difficult historical period for our country.
"The Constitution without people is just letters on paper. It is not for nothing that Article 3 of the Constitution of Ukraine states that the highest social value is a person. And the main task of the state is to ensure the rights and freedoms of people," said Ruslan Stefanchuk.
On the occasion of the Constitution Day and the Civil Service Day, the Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk presented the employees of the Secretariat of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine with the awards of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
He expressed his gratitude to all those present for their valiant work, which is being done every day to ensure that our country holds on and wins this war: "There is nothing more valuable than people. In any country or state, people who are professionals in their field are the greatest treasure, the greatest value." On behalf of the people's deputies of Ukraine, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine thanked everyone who works for the common victory.
The Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine expressed his gratitude to those colleagues from the Secretariat of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine who went to the frontline to defend Ukraine from the enemy. He also thanked for the initiative to perpetuate the names of the MPs and employees of the Secretariat who gave their lives for Ukraine on the walls of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
In his turn, Ivan Kyrylenko, the MP of the 2nd-7th and 9th convocations, congratulated the employees of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and told them in more detail about the peculiarities of work during the "constitutional night" when the Basic Law of Ukraine was adopted in 1996. "I have great respect and admiration for the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, which sometimes carries an unbearable burden," he said. "We are a great nation, we are a wonderful people, we deserve a better future. We just need to start with ourselves. With respect for what we accept. And even better, if we act on what we accept. And even better — to set an example," said Ivan Kyrylenko.
"The Secretariat of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is ready to face all the challenges facing the country. All civil servants perform their duties with honour and dignity to ensure that we achieve our goals," said Viacheslav Shtuchnyi, the Secretary General of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
At the same time, Serhii Rudyk, the MP, who is currently serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and Mykhailo Semko, Assistant to the MP, who was mobilised to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, took the floor. They thanked the staff of the Secretariat for their support in meeting the needs of the units.
At the same time, the Verkhovna Rada's Secretariat once again provided additional assistance to the units' needs, in accordance with the military's requests.
