Problems of the Housing and Public Utility, in particular, the Provision of the Population with the High-Quality Drinking Water, are the Problem of National Security, Volodymyr Lytvyn, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine deems.
It was declared in Donetsk, during the press-conference concerning the water supply in Makeevka town.
According to the Leader of the Parliament, he personally appealed to Government and Donetsk Authority in order to come to the common solution of the named problem. "I am convinced that drinking water problem needs immediate attention from the power as it is the problem of global dimension, that we have in Ukraine", - V. Lytvyn declared.
The chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine reminded that the human individual, in order to fell comfortable, must drink 1700 cubic meter of water. In Ukraine this index comprises1 thousand cubic meter and is the lowest in Europe. "Moreover, except quantitative index, there is also qualitative index. In Ukraine we consume relatively drinking water", - he stressed adding that 80% of all the human diseases are caused by the consuming of low quality water.
According to V, Lytvyn, the state program should be adopted in order to supply water of high quality. According to the words of the Head of the Parliament, annual realization of such programs needs "extreme funds", still he deems the society supports only such approach to the problem solution.
As it was announced previously, V. Lytvyn is staying with the working visit in Donetsk region.
