Yaroslav Rushchyshyn, the Secretary of the Committee on Economic Development, took part in the XVI Ukraine-Poland Forum, which was recently held in Lviv. The event discussed the idea of a common agricultural policy of Ukraine and Poland, which would help to avoid the incidents that occurred at the border.

“After Ukraine joins the EU, the European market will become the largest economy in the world,” says Yaroslav Rushchyshyn. “This argument may be useful to us during the accession negotiations.

Over the 20 years of Poland’s membership in the European Union, the cumulative growth of Polish GDP per capita in real terms at purchasing power parity has been almost 29%, which is an answer to all the sceptics of our EU membership.

Poland has 1.3 million agricultural enterprises, the bulk of which are not even small farms, but micro-enterprises with an average area of 5-10 hectares. This is a huge number of potential voters who somehow influenced Polish politicians who remained silent when protesters scattered our grain on the tracks.

Now, more than ever, we need the EU to make quick and decisive decisions. We need unity in addressing security, food and other challenges, as any progress in these matters will bring both our common victory over the aggressor and Ukraine’s membership in the EU closer.”
