On Wednesday, 29 May, the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniienko joined the XXХІI meeting of the Coordination Council for Public Administration Reform, held in a mixed format under the chairmanship of Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Oleh Nemchinov.
The parties discussed the implementation of the Communication Plan for Public Administration Reform in 2023, reviewed proposals for 2024, optimised work processes and procedures in central executive bodies, and streamlined the structure of ministerial staff.
For his part, the First Vice Speaker noted that the issue of multiplying the capacity of public administration is more relevant than ever: “We are joining the European Union, and these are new requirements, needs and expectations for the implementation of certain tasks.”
“We have a concrete understanding of what we need today – the system's readiness to negotiate Ukraine's accession to the European Union within a short time frame,” said Oleksandr Korniienko.
At the same time, he stressed that the demand of Ukrainian society and the window of opportunity offered by Europe coincide: “And it would be irresponsible for the political elite or any government to waste it.”
In conclusion, Oleksandr Korniienko called for discussions that will lead to the development of the necessary solutions and results.
