As a result, media journalists have the opportunity to cover the activities of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine directly in the premises of the Ukrainian Parliament. The corresponding Order “On Some Issues of Organizing the Work of Journalists in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the Ninth Convocation in the Conditions of Martial Law in Ukraine” was signed by the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk. The said Order approves the Regulation “On Accreditation of the Media at the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the Ninth Convocation for the Period of Martial Law in Ukraine”.

On Tuesday, May 7, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk and the Chief of Staff of the Ukrainian Parliament Vyacheslav Shtuchnyi met with journalists and informed them about the peculiarities of media work in the Press Center of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, in particular, about actions during the announcement of air alert.

The necessary conditions have now been created for media representatives to cover the work of the single legislative body. These include specially equipped workplaces, a place for briefings, recording interviews, broadcasting meetings, etc. During the meeting, the journalists were explained how the Press Center operates during Parliamentary sessions, the specifics of access to the Parliament building, including security issues, and the requirements to be met. The media representatives were also shown the simplest shelter in the Parliament building, where they will be obliged to go down during the air raid.

During the meeting, Ruslan Stefanchuk emphasized that, despite the restrictions imposed by martial law, it is extremely important that journalists have the opportunity to cover the activities of the single legislative body. He also informed that, given the need to comply with security requirements, which primarily concern the life and health of journalists, the maximum number of journalists in the Press Center could be up to 30 people, taking into account the number of seats in the simplest shelter of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, where plenary sessions are held, and, at the same time, the number of MPs of Ukraine, employees of the Secretariat, and servicemen of the State Security Department of Ukraine who are at work in the building of the Ukrainian Parliament.
