Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine: The Verkhovna Rada shall adopt a Final Resolution concerning Abolition of Deputy´s Immunity
Staying in the city of Lutsk on Saturday, Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, stated that The Verkhovna Rada shall adopt a final resolution concerning abolition of deputy´s immunity.
The Head of the Parliament answered the question whether abolition of the deputy´s immunity was not merely a political decision of The Verkhovna Rada. He stated that "it was undoubtedly a political action". However, he believes that "The Verkhovna Rada shall adopt a final resolution".
The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine reminded that the presidential elections will be followed by the parliamentary ones. "But for the parliamentary elections, abolition of the deputy´s immunity will be questionable. Today, people are disturbed with the unveiled scandals and mutual reproaches of the politicians, - he stressed. The Verkhovna Rada has no way to retreat, as, figuratively speaking, people with pitchforks are standing there".
