The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine delegation headed by Mykola Tomenko, Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, takes part in the 121st Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Geneva (Switzerland).

 

On 19 October 2009, the 121st Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) launched in Geneva International Conference Center.   

 

The Assembly shall discuss the following issues:

 

- Cooperation and common responsibility in the global fight against the organized crime, esp. trafficking in drugs, illegal trade of weapon, human trafficking and transfrontier tourism;

 

- Role of parliaments in the development of cooperation between the developing countries, participation of youth in the democratic process.          

 

The general discussions on the following topics are envisaged: situation with HIV/AIDS, human rights, etc.

 

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine delegation headed by Mykola Tomenko, Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, takes part in the 121st Assembly.

 

In the first day of the 121st Assembly M.Tomenko, Head of the Ukrainian delegation will hold a number of meetings, for example, with Mukhambet Kopeyev, Vice Speaker of the Senate of the Kazakhstan Parliament.
