Universities in Modern Life should be Centres of the Cultural Life and Spirituality- V. Lytvyn

Higher Educational Institutions,
Universities in particular, are supposed to become the centers of the culture
and spirituality today, it should determine the
dimensions of the education and reject the dubious experiments.
It was stressed by Volodymyr Lytvyn, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine during the solemnity on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of Zhytomyr Ivan Franko University. According to V. Lytvyn this university is one of the most influential in Volyn region as its history goes back to the year 1830 when its basis was founded.
V. Lytvyn emphasized the importance of the classical universities nowadays as they should determine the ways of the Ukrainian development. "It is the most important for today, everything else is only political vanity", - he declared.
V. Lytvyn expressed gratitude to the teachers team of the University, wished everything necessary to make Ukraine the state respected by all the citizens. He also expressed the thought that Zhytomyr Ivan Franko University should receive the status of the national one.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada
of Ukraine
presented the personnel with the certificate on sports ground with the training
equipment.
During the working visit V. Lytvyn also met the citizens of the Berdychiv town and held the conversation of the problems existing in regions and in the whole country as well.
V. Lytvyn declared that he is preoccupied with the situation in the region. According to him, Zhytomyr more and more "is given to the "dishonest hands." Everything that concerns land issues, natural resources use matters, social situation, according to the Head of the Parliament "is being kept on the last efforts."
In the course of the meeting V.
Lytvyn stressed that he "relies on the not indifferent fellow-townsmen." "We
would not give our region up as a pray", - the Chairman proclaimed.
