Mykola Tomenko: Askania-Nova: "Birds´ Capital" invites
Giving the answers to the journalists question on the air of "Era-FM" radio, Mykola Tomenko, the Vice-Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada declared that he continued the supervision for the objects-winners of the action "7 Wonders of Ukraine"
As it is known on Saturday, 11 of October during the opening of "Zaporizka Sich" Historical and Cultural Complex at the Territory of "Khortytsia, Mykola Tomenko, the Vice-Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine declared that "Zaporizka Sich" that has been a matter of discussion for a long time is renovated thanks to the efforts of many people. The idea of creating "Zaporizka Sich" complex caught its second wind after Ukraine became independent. However, the funds required for the construction were allocated only in 10 years. On 14 October 2004, i.e. exactly 5 years ago, the ceremonial laying of foundation of the complex took place. The Government of Yulia Tymoshenko rendered the first financial support in the amount of UAH 5 million in 2005. "Zaporizhstal" metallurgical works covered the biggest part of expenses.
Also, M. Tomenko called everybody willing to visit the Biosphere reserve "Askania-Nova". "It is really unique place. Last year it was called among one of the most picturesque places in Ukraine and it entered the semi-final of the world contest that is it was announced as one of the 77 natural wonders of the world", - Mykola Tomenko, the initiator of the action "7 Wonders of Ukraine" informed.
Mykola Tomenko explained that on 16 October in "Askania-Nova" the opening of the monument to it founder, Friedrich Falz-Fein would be held. "It is interesting, that in this period Askania-Nova is called birds´ capital, so I invite you to observe the unique natural wonder birds transmigration", - M. Tomenko said.
