On January 17, 2024, the Krym.Realii film crew (a project of Radio Svoboda), while filming a TV story, wearing bulletproof vests with the inscription PRESS, came under artillery fire in the Robotyno area of Zaporizhzhia region.

As a result of the mortar attack, journalist Dmytro Yevchyn received a shrapnel wound to his leg.

The Ukrainian military, together with a cameraman Mykyta Isaiko, provided him with first aid and evacuated him to a stabilization center in a neighboring village, and then transported him to a hospital in Zaporizhzhia. According to doctors, the operation was successful, and Dmytro Yevchyn will remain in intensive care.

The Verkhovna Rada Committee on Freedom of Speech appreciates the hard work of journalists on the front line, as Ukrainian and foreign media perform an extremely important job of informing the Ukrainian and world community about the course of events in the russian aggression against Ukraine.
