On Saturday, Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, made a working visit to Cherkasy region and visited the city of Uman to participate in the celebration of the City Day.

V.Lytvyn sent his greetings to the residents of Uman and stressed that their city, located in the center of Ukraine, had a vivid and sometimes tragic history (it was the 393rd anniversary of the first mention of the city).

V.Lytvyn confessed that the city of Uman and Sofiyivka dendrological park had enchanted him long ago, and he was also impressed by the team spirit and frankness of the people.

The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine believes this fact is of great importance under the complicated present-day conditions. He expressed his gratitude to all the residents of the city and paid honour to the founders, builders and defenders of Uman.
