The Committee on Foreign Affairs recommends that the Parliament ratifies the Agreement between Ukraine and the Syrian Arab Republic on Legal Relations and Mutual Assistance in Civil and Criminal Cases

During the meeting it was stressed that the Agreement is aimed at the effective cooperation of the competitive bodies of both countries regarding the mutual legal assistance in civil cases, determining of the mechanism of mutual recognition and implementation of the court judgments and also formation of the legal bases for the modern cooperation of competitive bodies of the both countries in the crimes prevention and investigation of criminal cases.

 

In particular the Agreement impalements the guarantees for the citizens and juridical persons of both Parties regarding the equal legal protection, receiving of the free of charge legal assistance etc.

 

Also according to the treaty, the central bodies in Ukraine through which the inquiry on the legal assistance is made are Prosecution General and Ministry on Justice.

The participants of the meeting stressed that the Agreement also determines the conditions of legal assistance rejection.
